Hosseinitermeh, 1×1 Termeh tablecloth

PANIZ design

Home is where the spirit of life should thrive. Original works of art, beyond telling stories from the past, infuse homes with vibrant colors and patterns. The “Paniz” design features various patterns, each holding deep meanings in different colors that can inspire any home.

This Termeh tablecloth measures 100 x 100 cm and is woven with silk (viscose) thread. With a density of 399 and featuring 8 colors, it is embroidered all around for its strength and beauty.

The tablecloth showcases the “Lachak-toranj” pattern. Its eight-leaf “Toranj,” with its bright blue color, evokes a pond full of water in the middle of a garden, reminiscent of a traditional Iranian garden. The four “lachaks,” along with the crimson border contrasting with the silver background, enhance the tablecloth's visual appeal.

The handwoven “Lachak-toranj” design symbolizes an Iranian garden. The garden, a sacred space, had its four corners (lachaks) representing the four parts of the world, while the center (toranj) symbolized the world's heart. All the plants of the garden were scattered in the space, that resemble a small world.

History of Termeh weaving

Termeh is one of Iran's oldest handicrafts, with a rich history. Its origins are debated, some attribute it to Kashmir and others to Iran. In the early 17th century, Shah Abbas the First's interest in Termeh and related arts led to the industry's growth and prosperity in Iran. The Safavid era is considered the golden age of Iran's textile industry.
